Maverick politician and member of parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong claims to have been told that the vice president, Mahamudu Bawumia, collapsed thus leading to his medical leave abroad.
Kennedy Agyapong says he was told by the CEO of the Ghana
“I didn’t even know number two [Dr. Bawumia] was sick. I was at Landmark Hotel and decided to step down for my breakfast. Then I saw someone wave at me. It was Yofi Grant. He was the only one seated so I went and sat beside him. Then he said there was something wrong with number two so I asked what it was. He told me he had collapsed,” Kennedy Agyapong stated.
So far, the cause of Bawumia’s illness remains unknown by the public as the government insists he is doing very well.
The news of Dr Bawumia’s ill health was disclosed in a press release by the Chief of Staff, Frema Opare, who stated that he left the country in the company of his wife, Samira Bawumia, on the advice of his doctors.
A lot has been said since his departure to London to seek medical care, with reports from certain quarters suggesting he is suffering from a stroke.
These claims have been advanced on social media by some Ghanaians, who are perceived to be sympathizers of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) leader.
Meanwhile, it has been said that the vice president will be touching down in Ghana by Friday, February 2nd.
