Akatsi North District inaugurates Ghana Census of Agriculture District Management Team

Akatsi North District Agriculture District Management Team

The District Chief Executive for Akatsi North District, Hon. Dr. Prince Sodoke Amuzu has officially inaugurated a four-man Ghana Census of Agriculture District Management Team.

The management team (DMT) include the District Director of the Ministry of Food andAgriculture Mr. Anthony Ekor, the District Co-ordinating Director Mr. John Kennedy Cobbah, The District Budget

Analyst, Mr. William Oblitey and Ebenezer Afriyie, District Information Officer.

Delivering his inaugural speech on behalf of the Minister of Food and Agriculture, he tasked the team to work diligently and come out with the requisite data that will assist the district to achieve the necessary results for the development of the Akatsi North District and Ghana at large.

He again tasked the DMT to be responsible for coordination and implementation of the programme in the district, ensure the provision of facilities for all activities of the census and ensure the effective education and publicity of the census. He continued that, they facilitate information sharing and dissemination of results in the district and resolve all problems relating to the census of agriculture operations in the district.

The Census for Agriculture is an initiative that is been undertaken by the Ghana Statistical Service and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture with technical support from the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations to conduct census of Agriculture in Ghana. The census of agriculture is a statistical operation covering the country and allows for the collection, processing, publishing and dissemination of information on the structure of agriculture and the state of development of the rural area. Data will be collected directly from households and some institutions on their agricultural activities including crop farming, tree planting, aquaculture and livestock rearing and also on fishing which is an important agriculture-related activity in Ghana. Information will also be collected from communities mainly on the geography, availability of basic facilities, socio-economic conditions, transport infrastructure, availability of community services, potentials for development and constraints to development.

Gracing the occasion was Torgbui Nyamekor Glakpe V, the President of the Ave Council of Chiefs and the Paramount Chief of Ave Dakpa.
