In addressing the media, the MCE expressed his happiness for the response from the public and their enthusiasm in cleaning the city. He urged all citizens to take sanitation of the city very serious. The health of the people must be our collective responsibility. I want to see more persons taking part in this exercise in the next programme, he noted.
On the poor sanitary conditions in Abura, the MCE assured the people of his commitment in providing the needed support to help curb the problem.
The Regional Minister, Hon. Kwamena Duncan also joined the exercise. He commended the MCE of Cape Coast for the continuation of the sanitation programme. He explained that, his office is going to make sure that, sanitation in the Central Region is improved. He called for active participation from all citizens. We don’t have to close our shops and stay home. We must close the shops and be part of the exercise, the regional minister stated.
The Ghana Red Cross Society, the Ghana Fire Service and other groups joined the exercise. Melcom Ghana Ltd and Capital Hill Hotel all in Cape Coast donated Wheel barrows and shovels to support the exercise.
