Ex-President Mahama Withdraws Bungalow Request

Former President John Mahama has written to President Nana Akufo-Addo to withdraw his initially request to keep No.3 Prestige Link, Cantonment and No.6 Third Avenue, Ridge as his official residence and office respectively.

According to the letter copied Ashantehene Otumfou Osei Tutu II, the request was prior agreement between him and President Akufo-Addo.

However, this request from the defeated former President has attracted huge controversy and criticism for which some members of the ruling New Patriotic Party have threatened demonstration and force eviction should the former President fail to vacate the building which have been allocated to the current Vice President Dr. Bawumiah

The co-chair of the transition team, Yaw Osafo Marfo told journalists in an interview that “We have not approved of his request, and I want to repeat we have received the request and the requests are two – for him to be given his ex-gratia where he lives and also be given another property as his office”.
