There are several emerging challenges confronting the nations of West Africa including terrorism, militancy, cultism, religious violence, unemployment, access to higher education, curriculum content issues, unemployment, access to ICT and utilization, gender imbalance in education, citizenship and indigeneship issues, conflicting educational systems in West Africa, poverty, diseases, corruption, conflicts and underdevelopment, human rights abuse and climate change issues. These issues require professional discussions and exchange of ideas to address them.
To this end, the EP University College, Ghana; National Association of Women in Colleges of Education (Nigeria), Universal Peace Federation, Awake Africa and their partners are planning to convene the first West Africa Educators Conference to be held at the University of Ghana, Accra.
The conference will bring together educators at various levels, with policy makers and leaders of educational agencies and organizations to deliberate on the theme and sub theme and evolve a strategy that will be helpful in shaping education in West Africa for regional integration, peace and sustainable development.
