Reports reaching Awake news confirms that fire burnt the Chemistry and ICT laboratories of Leklebi Senior High School in the Afadzato South District of the Volta Region reducing the facilities to ashes.
The incident reportedly occurred between 12 am and 1am on Monday.
In an interview with Awake news, Torgbui Otsyodibo VI (known in his private life as John Smart Adza), the National President of Leklebi Senior High School Old Students Association (LESSOSA), the fire started around 12am.
According to Torgbui Otsyodibo IV, it was difficult for the security officer (Mr. Sabu) at post in the school to reach the Ghana National Fire Services station at Hohoe which is about 250 km from Leklebi Duga where the school is located.
One of the eyewitness had to call a relative at Hohoe who rod motorbike to send the information to the fire officers.
According to Torgbui, the fire had intensified but sadly after the fire officers arrived and used the water in tender, the officers had to travel to Aflabo Waterfalls located Leklebi Agbesia which is about 10km to fill their tank as there is no hydrant in the school.
Tgborbui said after the fire officers had left to fill their tank, members of the community had to fetch water to continue the work of the fire fights which he said help in preventing the fire to other blocks in the school.
It is not yet clear the cause of the fire.
Leklebi Senior High School is one of the oldest senior high schools in the Afadzato South District located at Duga, the capital of six Leklebi communities (Duga, Fiape, Agbesia -that has Aflabo Water Fall, Kame, Kudzra and Dafour). T
