Bimbilla Conflict: Regent to Smoke Peace Pipe with feuding faction

The regent of Bimbila, Naa-Yakubu Dasana Andani, in the Nanumba North District in the Northern Region, says his palace never planned the sporadic shooting during the installation of a warrior chief last Thursday.

According to him the shootings were some individuals who stage the gun shoots which suddenly resulted in violence that caused the lost many lives.

Naa-Yakubu Dasana Andani, rubbished the allegations of him using the stool to enrich himself, stating that,  he would not have stopped the illegal sales of the vast land under his territory by the other Royal family (Nagbana) if he wants self riches.

He assured to smoke peace pipe by letting go the lands under disputes and does not want to share blood.

“I love the people of Bimbila, why should I allow people to die because of someone’s benefits”.-  he said

He was, however, resolved to install the warrior chief in accordance with the custom of the Nanumba tradition, which, according to him was in the best interest of the people of the Nanumba North District.

He grieved that he always feels outrageous when is in the news for the bad reasons and also concealed how unidentified person have been threatening him through text messages.

He made this known when the Interior Minster, the IGP and other dignitaries and government officials paid a courtesy call to him during a fact finding mission in connection with the latest clashes.

The Interior Minister, Hon Abross Derry in his address said,  the death recorded in the last few days should be an end to the clashes.  He stated that government’s main priority is to ensure that peace and security is in the community, hence government deployment of two hundred and ten (210) police personnel,  Sixty Nine (69) military personnel and thirteen (13) crack investigation team to the area to fish out people who were involved in the clashes.

He said government is committed to finding a lasting solution to the protracted chieftaincy dispute.

The Minister further appealed to residents to cooperate with the security agencies and provide them with information’s to help clamp down the perpetrators of the crime.
